So here’s how much I was paying attention, I swore this was next month, but no I was wrong it’s now, which means it has been a year since I decided to start this baby up!
I guess I wanted to make this post about what blogging has taught me after a year and how I feel about it, how my blog has changed and progressed and yeah. I guess, honestly for the first 10 months of this blog I was very inconsistent, I didn’t post regularly and it wasn’t something I made time for, but after a rather long train journey over Easter long weekend, I sat there a I thought about what I wanted from it, if I wanted to continue and what direction I wanted this blog to be. At that point I was really only writing travel related stuff but I was looking ahead into the furture and while yes now I am travelling and have been for 6 weeks, eventually, once I’m back in Aus I’m going to run out of content and to be honest, I didn’t want this to just be a travel blog even though that’s why I started this. When I started it, I really only had the intentions of this being for my Mum and my Grandparents to read so they could keep up with our adventures, but as I thought more and more about it, I wanted this to become something else. So on that train journey, I made the decision to do a 30 Day Blogging Challenge and if I kept up with that, and if I enjoyed it then I would make the move to blogging about my life, what products I enjoy and just general lifetsyle topics. Once I started that I realised how much more motivated I was to come on here and how much I enjoyed it. I started joining groups on Facebook, I even created a Twitter account (which isn’t something I’ve had since my hardcore 1D fan days in 2012) and I’ve even found myself in an amazing Whatsapp group with a whole heap of super amazing and helpful bloggers!
I’ve found myslef learning new skills, learning how to use photoshop, actually taking my camera out and wanting to photograph things, I want to create content that people want to read and that people find useful or motivating or just enjoy. I wanted to create a space where people could feel like they could come and someone would understand, and I’m not scared to write about my anxiety or anything else I have going on in life because I want others to know they’re not alone, and yes, while right now, my blog is essenitally all travel posts, that’s because I am away, I am travelling and that’s what’s going on in my life right now, when I get back to Aus and I am back at uni, it’s probably going to change a little bit but thats okay because it’s my blog.
I keep reading so many things online and they all say “in order to have a successful blog you need to find your neiche, you need to have one thing” and for so long I believed that, but and I think this is the most important thing I’ve learnt, is that it’s my blog and I can post whatever I want. I think when it comes to bloggin you get what you put in, the more effort, the more hours you spend, the more you’ll get back but in the end unless you’re trying to make a living from it, numbers and just number and you can get so much more from it than that, you can find yourself in such an amazing community full of people and so far I think that’s what my favourite thing about blogging is.
So happy first birthday to this little baby of mine! Let’s see what the next year of being together holds!
