I know, I know I haven’t posted in a couple of months I’m sorry! But also how has it been a couple of months? Where has the time gone? But I’ve missed you all so much and this lovely community ❤️
Basically I’ve been so busy with uni and work and life that I’ve struggled to find the motivation to sit and write anything basically! But here’s what I’ve been up to in the last few months!
Things have been great and I’ve been on my first uni teaching placement which was so amazing and I honestly enjoyed it so much and can’t wait for the next 4 years of uni to be over so I can get into a career I actually enjoy!
We’ve also put our names down with a breeder for an Airedale puppy which I’m so excited and if you guys don’t know what sort of dog airedales are have a look they’re so cute! Omg! The breeder isn’t planning for any litters until mid next year, which actually works out so perfect for us because we should’ve been back in our house a for little bit and be more settled and able to give this little puppy all the love and affection it deserves!
We leave for Fiji in just under two weeks, I’m so excited, I’ve so realised how blessed I was in London to be travelling at least once a month and getting away! I don’t know what I’m gonna do after Fiji when I actually have no idea when our next holiday is! But keep posted for updates on that!
And yeah that’s essentially what’s been going on, spending my weekends walking the dog at the beach, enjoying the sunshine and boosting my vitamin D levels after two years in the UK!
Love you all and I promise I’ll be posting more regularly hahah!
I’ve been neglecting my lil blog baby as of late, so thought I’d post a little bit about what I’ve been up to because I’ve been a busy bee this weekend sorting out life and my to-do list is as long as my arm but anyway…
So, we’re back in Perth and literally, we’ve been here for 5 days and I have barely had a moment to myself to stop and breathe. About an hour or so after we landed on Friday afternoon, Lachy and I headed off to look at a car and because it was a Friday night and we landed late afternoon and the banks close at 5 and they’re not open weekends we had to take out the money before we left Adelaide which meant I was walking around with probably more cash than I had ever held for hours while boarding, flying and leaving the airport and as someone who misplaces my phone and purse on a regular basis, I was stressing, but all was good, I didn’t lose the money and we ended up buying a cute little Suzuki Swift, which we have named Wendy. She’s a good little car and so nice to drive!
And then really we spent the weekend seeing friends and hanging out with them and whatnot, late nights, early mornings sorting stuff out. I’ve been for two job interviews, one trial (they offered me a job) and I have another job trial tomorrow, but I really think I’ll take the one I went to today but we’ll see!
All the stuff that we shipped from the U.K arrived today so we’ve been sorting through that and organising and unpacking and everything, so it’s actually been quite a productive day! We’ve also joined a gym so I can lose the 20kgs I put on over the two years I lived in London – hopefully, I can sort of lose half in the next 10 weeks before Fiji but we’ll see!
But all in all it’s so nice to be back in Perth, I feel so much more settled already and like our life can relax and we can get into a routine and get back to reality! Uni goes back in two weeks and I’m really trying to enjoy all the downtime I can before I no longer have any!
And yeah that’s what I’ve been doing and why I haven’t been active on here, or very many of my social media!
Right guys, so this is a weird moment for me, this is my first ever OTTD . I’m not really someone who is totally confident in their body so it’s actually taking a lot for me to post this photo but I am really digging my holiday wardrobe and wanted to show it off hahah
Today I’m wearing this cute little sleeveless shirt with pineapples (TK Maxx) on it, my mom jeans (which I talked about being my fave in my April faves post April faves) and my H&M white sneakers and my sunglasses which I got from River Island..
Funny story about the pineapple top, for this trip I purposely bought everything with some short of sleeve because I’m so self conscious on my arms but I saw this and I thought it was so cute and I had to buy it and I absolutely love it..
Okay, guys, I think I want to start doing a monthly faves post each month… I’m going to start it this month and I’ll try for May and June, however, I will be travelling Europe so I may not have anything new to share. I’ll be limited to what I take with me as far as makeup and skincare and clothes etc… but I can try with things like new foods, restaurants, places, and wine. Anway lets get started on this month’s faves! I think, especially with the fashion faves I’ll insert a little grid of photos of the items I love so you can see, it’s hard to describe items without showing them (This would be so much easier for a vlogger!)
When it comes to skincare, it’s something that I’ve sort of really only started to get into this year. In fact, it was my new year’s resolution, to start taking care of my skin properly! So here is a list of what I’ve found to become my favourites, some I only started using this month but other’s I have been using a little longer but I thought I’d include them since this is my first faves post! (Check out my Skin Care routine post for explanations on why I use and love certain products Skincare Routine!)
Boots Ingredients Cleansing and Purifying and the Energising and Revitalising sheet masks! (I tried 4/5 of them but those two were my faves)
The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution
The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil
The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG
Garnier Moisture Bomb Tissue Mask (the green tea one)
Dead Sea Spa Magik Gentle Cleansing Wash
Dead Sea Spa Magik Rich Moisturiser
The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
This month I have been trying all new sorts of brands and products, here are some that I just keep reaching for!
Cody Airspun Loose Setting Powder in Naturally Neutral
Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray (Yes I know this old, but I’ve only just bought it)
Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless Foundation
The Ordinary Serum Foundation
The Ordinary High-Adherence Silicone Primer
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
John Frieda Sheer Blonde Colour Renew Tone Correcting Shampoo and Conditioner (I love this shampoo and conditioner, when I was blonde it was my lifesaver and now that I have the blonde on the ends of my hair it really just prolongs the colour and stops its changing)
Vitamin D tablets – Last year I went to a doctor about my energy levels and he told me I should start taking vitamin D tablets in fact, he actually said: “Anyone who lives in the U.K really should be taking them”. Anyway I bought them but I’m really bad at taking a pill regularly, I just forget but anyway the last sort of 8 weeks I’ve been continuously taking them and I have really noticed a change in my energy and my mood, I actually want to go out and do things after work instead of coming straight home and sleeping! The other day I found myself willingly walking around the shops browsing after a shift, that is literally something I’ve never done because I’ve always been too exhausted!
My Mirena! – I was writing an explanation for this but I felt like it was too long, should I do a separate post as to why I’ve ended up with the Mirena as my contraception choice and why I love it? Let me know in the comments!
Mom Jeans, I’m probably behind on this bandwagon but I’ve always been a skinny jean person but this past month I can’t get enough of my Mom jeans!
My rose gold Adidas Stan Smith Shoes – OBSESSED!
My chocolate brown leather Ashwell backpack! (It was expensive but I absolutely love it!
I’ve actually managed to read a fair bit this month, I’m currently swapping between a few books that I am loving!
The Girl Online Series by Zoe Sugg! (I finished the 3 books in like a week but they were fun and easy to read, perfect for reading on the tube to work at 6 am when your brain isn’t working yet!)
Exhausted to Energised – Dr Libbys Guide to Living Your Life with More Energy! – by Dr Libby Weaver
Then She Was Gone – Lisa Jewell (This one was so good, the ending was so unexpected!)
Milk and Honey – Rupi Kaur (I’m not hugely into poetry but I love this, a girl from work was reading it and I had a flick through and immediately ordered it on Amazon)
Exhausted to Energized
Then She Was Gone
Milk and Honey
Another thing I bought this month and am TOTALLY OBSESSED with it my Simple Modern Stainless Steel drink bottle! Another two of my goals this year was to use less plastic and drink more water and with this bottle I do!
I love that its stainless steel so it keeps my water super cold and fresh (I literally had it sitting in the sun when it was 26 and the outside was hot to touch but the water inside was still ice cold!) and I am using much less plastic than when I was just buying bottled water, I love it!
Anyway guys, these are all the things I have been obsessing over in April! I hope you guys enjoyed! Let me know what you guys have been obsessing over this month!
So I have mentioned before that I have two tattoos and that they were both on my left wrist, well essentially the love heart my friend did, had pretty much faded so we went into a tattoo place today to get in traced and I’m totally in love! I also ended up walking out with the unplanned sun tattoo which I think is just the cutest!
The tattoo place itself was so welcoming and friendly, we went in neither of us having had a proper tattoo before with a tattoo gun, so we were both a little anxious, however, they made us feel so comfortable and so chilled it made the whole experience so good!
I honestly think I could be addicted, now I know that there was very little pain and how much I’m loving them, I want more!
Right guys so, skin care is something I’ve really only sort of just started getting into, in fact, it was my new year’s resolution, to have a proper skincare routine that I followed every morning a night and actually I have been really good at following it, except of course if I’ve had a really big night out! I do however make sure I do remove my make up every night no matter what, which in the past wasn’t something I was very good at and I have really noticed a difference in my skin!
Essentially I use the same products both morning and night, except I swap out cleansers and moisturisers…
So my morning routine includes these following items, I’ll list them in the order that I use them!
Neutrogena Spot Stress Control Daily Scrub
The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution (Salicylic Acid is really good for cleaning out your pores!)
The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% (Helps fight blemishes)
Dead Sea Spa Magik Rich Moisturiser (I like this because it feels quite rich and moisturising but you only need the tiniest amount and doesn’t feel heavy on the skin!)
The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG (This is for your eyes and reduces both puffiness and pigmentation)
And my night time routine includes the following:
Dead Sea Spa Magik Gentle Cleansing Facial Wash (I really like this, it leaves my skin feeling so clean and you only need the smallest amount!)
The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution
The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG
The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil (Rose Hip Seed Oil is really good for balancing pigmentation and skin texture!)
And yeah they’re essentially the products I’ve settled on and use every day, I tried a few brands (both high end and cheaper) and different methods at the beginning of the year trying to find what worked for me and in the end, I have settled with this little routine! I think one of my favourite things is the price of the items I use, the most expensive item is the Rose Hip Oil at just under £10, all products range between £5-10!
I’ve sort of become obsessed with The Ordinary! I use one of their silicone based primers which I absolutely love, and today I’m trying their serum foundation for the first time so we’ll see how that goes, so far I am liking it!
Half way through this challenge and I’m really loving it!
Day 15: Where will I Be In 5 Years?
Todays question has got me thinking to be honest, I feel like these days my life is pretty stable and I’m happy and I feel like Lachy and I have a pretty set sort of 10 year plan and goals we want to work towards..
So I think I’ll start buy sort of going through the plan for the next 5, which essentially is just me finishing uni and getting a proper teaching job, paying as much off of the mortgage as possible and getting a puppy! I think I’d probably like to be married or at least engaged (Lachlan that ones on you!) so I guess yeah in 5 years I’d like to have a real job, be making solid progress on the mortgage and have a puppy! Hahah
However, as I said this post really got me thinking, and if you’d asked me 5 years ago where I’d be today, I definitely would not have said that I’d be on the tube on the way to work in London! So really who knows where I’ll be in 5 years, as long as I have Lachy by my side I’ll be happy!
I actually cleaned or half of the fridge out yesterday when my groceries for the week were delivered, but since we obviously houseshare and we share a fridge, it’s not as organised as I would like my fridge to be but yeah! Anyway here’s what’s in my fridge!
Right so I think the best way would to just take a photo of each shelf and describe from there hahah
So on my first shelf, I have pretty much just cheese and dips:
– Black Olive Tapenade dip
– Harrisa Houmous dip
– Mature Cheddar Slices
– Sour Cream
On my second shelf, I have some desserts and some more cheese:
– A Lemon Tart from Paul
– A Vanilla and Chocolate Cheesecake
– Parmigiano Reggiano
My next shelf, which is the bottom shelf is essentially just all my meat products:
– GBK Burger Patties
– Smoked Bacon Rashers
– A Tapas Platter with chorizo, cheese and olives
– Chorizo Ring
– Siracha Hot Sauce (Probably my fave thing in the fridge)
– Minced Garlic
– Minced Ginger
– Tomato Paste
And now last is my veg drawer!
– A packet of Superfood Salad mix
– Mixed Peppers
– Tenderstem Broccoli
– Celery Sticks
– Fresh Chillis
And the only drinking item I have is a bottle of white wine chilling, that Lachy and I bought after a wine tasting on Friday night!
So I actually have a lot of stuff that I wouldn’t normally stock in my fridge, like all the dips and tapas and cheese items as well as the dessert stuff but Lachy and I are having a picnic on Wednesday since the weather is nice, so I got all the stuff for that! The rest is just what I needed for dinners this week, however, we’re really only home for dinner Monday and Tuesday this week so it’s not much!
